General Information

Ephesians 4:11-13 (NKJV)
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

To create an “approved workman” requires more effort than just attending a church service and a weekly Sunday School class. An approved workman achieves his / her status by growing in the knowledge of God’s Word, by incorporating that knowledge into their daily lives, thus, learning to be wise as God is wise.

In other words, the formula looks something like this:

Learn the Word  + Understand the Word + Daily Situations = Application of God’s Wisdom

The purpose of Calvary Road Bible Institute is to equip you to carry-out this formula in your daily walk with God and the world around you. The first three semesters (leading to the Basic Certificate) are designed to provide you with biblical knowledge, the learning of the Word which leads to an Understanding of that Word.  These courses are not accredited by any college organization and are not eligible for credit transfers to any institute of higher learning.

The last semester (the Advanced Certificate) is designed to help you better Understand and Interpret the Knowledge you have learned in the three survey series, so that you may truly come to apply God’s Word in each situation you encounter in life. This might be viewed as a semester of learning how to understand God’s Wisdom.

Requirements

These classes are all designed to be college level studies, but they are not considered accredited courses. These credits are designed solely to help you in your biblical growth. They are designed to provide you with a better understanding of the Bible and your ministry.  The courses will flow easier if you take them in order, but there is no requirement that they be completed in any particular order and you may join CRBI at the start of any semester.

The courses will be graded solely on a pass / fail basis, although you will be given details as to your performance in more typical grading terms. Each semester involves:

Specific reading assignments

Approximately 50 minutes of class room time for each course. Attendance and class room participation form a portion of your grade.

Three-to-four written research assignments per semester.

You will also have access to a workbook to assist you in covering each week’s materials for the first three semesters.

All text books for the first three semesters will be obtained from Liberty Bible Institute. Costs for the text books for the first semester will be $90.  The books for Old Testament Survey and the Theology Survey will be used all three semesters, so the costs for the second and third semesters will be less.  There will be one text book for the first semester of New Testament Survey, with a second book covering the last two semesters.

Costs

Tuition -- $242.50 per semester, payable he start of each semester with your registration form.

Text Books – prices as above -- $90 for the first semester

Library – as outlined below

There are no other costs.

Because of the nature of these courses and the format chosen from grading, there will be no auditing of these courses.

Classes

Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6:30 PM until approximately 9:30 PM.  Each course is 50 minutes in length with 10 minute breaks between classes.

Each course will be 15 weeks in length.

General Information about the School will be found on the “Program in a Nutshell” sheet.

Library

Obviously you will need a Bible.  I do not care what version of the Bible you use.  However, the KJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV, NLT, and NIV are best designed for study purposes because of their theory of translation.  I will be using the New King James as the regular classroom Bible, although I have access to, and may occasionally use, a large number of translations.

In addition to your required textbooks and workbooks and basic classroom Bible, each student should have a small research library consisting of the equivalent of a study Bible, a Bible dictionary or handbook, one Bible commentary, and a Strong’s Concordance.  While you might find sufficient information on the web to complete your research assignments, they will be much easier if you possess at least  minimum library.  The cost of such a library priced at Lifeway Christian Bookstore or Christian Book Distributions is approximately $145.00.

There are a number of computer software programs on the market that offer all of the above in one form or another. On the surface, these appear to be more expensive, but after adding the costs of the individual books, we believe the cost of these computer packages outweigh the cost of books.  There are several packages available.

After due consideration, CRBI is going to recommend that you obtain the Logos Christian Home Library package.  The list price of this package appears to be $149.00.  We are attempting to obtain a discount for class, so please do not purchase any software until we advise you further.  The software will be your library and from the School’s perspective you will not need to purchase any additional books beyond a classroom Bible, your textbooks and your workbooks.
