Eschatology

The study of the last things

Things to Come . . .

Does the world as we know it end?

Will God really judge the earth and punish the wicked?

ESCHATOLOGY (from Gk. éschaton "last thing").

The biblical perspective concerning events to take place in the last days (Heb 1:2; cf. Heb hayyamîm "latter days"; Isa 2:2-4; Hos 3:5). While the Old Testament highlights the future of the community (Israel), the New Testament pays special attention to the destiny of the individual.

Christ makes it abundantly clear in what is commonly called the Olivet Discourse (Matt 24 & 25) that a period will arrive in human history when God will judge the world and bring Tribulation upon the Nation of Israel. Virtually every Old Testament prophet has some thoughts upon this period of judgment. Indeed, the last book (Revelation) of the New Testament expands upon these concepts and provides much needed details to the matter of "the last things."

Our study will focus upon what these Old Testament prophets predicted, how these visions fit within the Words of Christ, and how, when, and where the Apostle John foresees the fulfillment of these oraciles.

About one-third of the Bible is considered to be prophecy. As such we will not have time to consider every detail of every prediction. We will do our best to cover all of the words of the prophets that naturally fit into the "things to come." Come and join us upon this journey through the lands of the prophects and the visions of those events in God's decree that are still remaining to be fulfilled. Come and journey through the "things to come."
